Orthoptics is a health science that involves the study of the visual system, with an emphasis on conditions which affect eye muscles and movements and binocular vision. It uses special technology and tests to investigate the patient’s vision, and to determine the type and extent of eye disease or disorder. It assesses the patients surgical and non-surgical requirements and is often used to guide ophthalmic care.
