Physiotherapy is considered an Allied Health field. It is concerned with assessing, diagnosing, preventing and treating/managing injuries and other health conditions which affect movement of the body. Physiotherapy uses a variety of techniques, exercises, and programs which help to improve and restore movement, function and strength and reduce further injury. Physiotherapists work with a wide range of people, including sports people, children, the elderly, people with disabilities or people in rehabilitation after surgery. Other medical specialists, including GPs, may refer patients for physiotherapy sessions as part of their health management or recovery plan.
