WA Country Health are looking for a Clinical Nurse Specialist to join their dynamic team in Eucla. Country Nursing and Midwifery Incentive Program

The Country Nursing & Midwifery incentive program is available to new and existing nurses and midwives - across a broad range of patient-facing roles - on fixed term or permanent contracts at eligible locations. Eligible nurses and midwives can receive between $5,000 and $17,000 in support over 12 months. As a Clinical Nurse in this role, you would be responsible for the provision and coordination of primary health care to the community of Eucla and those who may be travelling through. Includes the provision of Nursing Services encompassing emergency care, chronic disease management, child health, immunisation, health promotion, and education.

The occupant of this position is required to demonstrate a positive commitment to modelling our organisational values, safety and quality improvement and the Code of Conduct in all aspects of their employment. Compliance with all relevant policies, procedures, standards and legislation including Confidentiality and Work Health and Safety policies is mandatory.

To be successful, you will have the following:

  • effective leadership skills (organisational, supervisory, caseload management and problem-solving skills).
  • extensive clinical experience including assessment skills, triage and emergency management skills, clinical problem solving and understanding of chronic disease management.
  • knowledge and application of primary health care principles and programs.
  • ability to work both independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team in a cross-cultural setting.
  • effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills including problem solving and negotiation skills.
  • Current knowledge of legislative obligations for Equal Opportunity, Disability Services and Work Health and Safety, and how these impact on employment and service delivery.

Area Profile

The Goldfields region of the WA Country Health Service covers the Goldfields-Esperance Region of Western Australia. The region is located in the south eastern corner of Western Australia and covers 770,488 sq km (including offshore islands). The WA Country Health Service Goldfields consists of two main health campuses located in Kalgoorlie & Esperance, and three smaller hospitals located in Laverton, Leonora, and Norseman. The Goldfields is a culturally rich region with a number of Aboriginal communities spread out across the region, 16 distinct Aboriginal language groups and an Aboriginal population that represents 12.3 per cent of our total population, with 1 in 10 people, on average, identifying as Aboriginal – this in comparison to the state average of 3.6 per cent.
