Fiona Stanley Hospital (FSH) is a
783-bed tertiary hospital offering a range of health services
including the State Rehabilitation Service, a comprehensive cancer
centre, purpose-built mental health unit, maternity, paediatric and
neonatal services, and the State Adult Burns Service. FSH also
delivers specialised services such as heart and lung
transplantations and hyperbaric medicine.
SMHS delivers quality, safe and effective
hospital and health services within a catchment area stretching
more than 3300 square kilometres across the southern half of
Perth.

This position is a specialist role, which
provides an effective clinical function. As a consequence, the
position holder influences the practice of nursing in allocated
clinical area/s, both within and external to their health service.
The position provides a global perspective of capacity and access
demands, assisting clinical areas to meet local capacity issues and
human resource management out of hours. Areas of
responsibility will include the provision of leadership, clinical
standard setting and monitoring, policy development, and change
management. As a senior nurse has professional accountability to
the Nurse Director and provides mentorship and role modelling for
nurses and contributes to the advancement of the profession, in
keeping with the vision and values for SMHS Mental Health
Nursing.
