What you'll be doing
The Safeguards Team is a new dedicated CAMHS resource designed to provide innovative and best practice care to children and adolescents aged 0-17 years experiencing acute mental health distress. The team is community based and provides rapid, mobile and flexible care to resolve mental health crisis, including assertive outreach, care coordination and time-limited therapeutic interventions.
The Safeguards Team operates 7 days/week with extended hours on weekdays, and will respond to young people in their schools, homes and communities and in hospital-based settings through face to face, phone and telehealth appointments The position sits within the Safeguards Child and Adolescent Mental Health Response Team ('Safeguards Team') and reports to the Safeguards Team Leader.
The primary purpose of the position will be to plan, coordinate, and implement clinical expertise and extensive specialised knowledge within scope of practice and to provide evidence based,assessment and treatment to children and adolescents (0 to 17 years) in acute mental health distress, and their families in accordance with the objectives of the Safeguards service delivery model objectives
About you, do you have?
- Qualifications eligible for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers; or qualifications recognised for registration with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia. or qualifications eligible for registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia; or qualifications eligible for registration with the Psychology Board of Australia
- Demonstrated clinical experience in the provision of assessment and treatment services in a Child and Adolescent Mental Health setting
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the NSW Mental Health Act (2007) and Amendments, Children & Young Persons (Care & Protection Act) 2010 and National Mental Health Standards (2010), and Best Practice guidelines for service delivery in mental health.
