The Clinical Nurse provides an early leadership role within the career pathway for nursing within CQ Health and is responsible for a specific patient population and can function in more complex situations while providing support and direction to the Registered Nurse, Enrolled Nurse and other non-registered nursing personnel.

Our Rockhampton Hospital Surgical Unit provides an inpatient service to surgical patients in CQ Health. If you have a passion for positive outcomes and patient centred care, then this could be the perfect role for you!

About us:

The Rockhampton Hospital Surgical Unit is a 36-bed unit that provides an inpatient service to surgical patients in CQ Health. The unit offers a 24 hour, 7 days a week service for all adult patients over the age of 17 and covers, Orthopaedics, General Surgery, Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT), Gynaecology, Facio-maxillary (limited to patients awaiting transfer to Brisbane), Urology, Opthalmology and Dental.

About the role:

The Clinical Nurse follows defined service quality standards, occupational health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken to ensure high quality, safe, practice and services and workplaces.

  • Deliver an advanced standard of patient care including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation by using clinical nursing expertise including for patients with complex care needs.
  • Support cost effective workplace teaching and learning that promotes and fosters a culture of continuous learning and inquiry.
  • Integrate nursing and advanced health care knowledge, skills and ability by supporting an evidence-based learning environment and participating in learning activities/opportunities for self and others.

About you:

  • Current registration through the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). A relevant postgraduate certificate or post graduate diploma is an expectation of this position.
  • Where the successful applicant does not currently hold this qualification, commitment to completion within an agreed timeframe is expected and will form part of the performance and development plan.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide leadership, percept staff and contribute to professional nursing practice with confidence and integrity. 
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver a high-quality service with the primary focus on achievement of organisational goals for the good of others. 

What we offer:

Total remuneration value of up to $131,900 p.a. is comprised of:

  • An hourly rate between $54.44 - $58.30 p.h.
  • 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
  • 17.5% leave loading
