About us:

Rockhampton Hospital is a 305-bed facility and is the main referral hospital for Central Queensland, now providing integrated cancer care services in Central Queensland in the newly established building boasting state of the art medical equipment.

Specialist Medical Services offered at the Rockhampton Hospital include Emergency Medicine, General Medicine, Cardiology, Renal Medicine, Palliative Care, Psychiatry, Rehabilitation, Geriatric Medicine, Paediatrics, General Surgery, Orthopaedics, Urology, Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT), Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Intensive Care and Anaesthetics. There are also a range of clinical services provided on a visiting basis from tertiary hospitals in Queensland.

About the role:

While supporting the Nurse Unit Manager (NUM), the Associate Nurse Unit Manager provides leadership and direction to Nursing and Midwifery staff and is responsible for the facilitation and provision of safe, quality, and cost-effective nursing care consistent with contemporary standards and best practice within the unit or area.

  • Demonstrate knowledge and application of advanced level clinical skills and problem-solving skills.
  • Assist and support the NUM in developing and improving the Unit/Ward operations to ensure financial sustainability and service delivery efficiencies and improved patient outcomes.
  • Participate in the development and sustainability of a culture of leaning in a capable and educated nursing workforce.
  • Maintain a high level of interpersonal and communication skills, working effectively with individuals, groups and as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.

About you:

  • A current registration through the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • A relevant postgraduate Diploma or Master's degree is an expectation of this position. Where the successful applicant does not currently hold this qualification, commitment to completion within an agreed timeframe is expected and will form part of the performance and development plan.

What we offer:

Total remuneration value of up to $58,298 is comprised of:

  • An hourly rate of $61.20 p.h.
  • 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
  • 17.5% leave loading
