About the Role
As a Mental Health Nurse Consultant, you will take on an expert role, providing clinical nursing leadership and consultancy to shape and improve mental health services. You’ll bring your extensive clinical expertise and innovative thinking to support recovery-focused care, delivering services across a variety of settings. You will:
- Provide expert mental health nursing care, ensuring high-quality, safe outcomes for consumers.
- Lead and support multidisciplinary teams, driving excellence in clinical decision-making and care delivery.
- Lead projects and programs that contribute to the continuous improvement of services, consumer outcomes, and mental health nursing practices.
- Apply your independent clinical judgement to enhance the quality of care, including developing care plans and delivering therapeutic interventions.
- Support complex discharge planning, hospital avoidance strategies, and provide education to both consumers and the wider health team.
Essential Criteria
- Registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse/Midwife with a current practicing certificate.
- A Graduate Diploma in Mental Health Nursing (or equivalent).
- A minimum of 3 years post-registration experience in mental health nursing.
- Proven leadership in supervising and guiding multidisciplinary teams and student nurses.
- Experience in providing culturally sensitive care, particularly to Aboriginal consumers.
