Metro South Addiction and Mental Health Services are looking for a Clinical Nurse Consultant - District Forensic Liaison Officer to join their team. This department provide inpatient, hospital-based and community mental health and community alcohol and drug services for all age groups at a number of campuses across Metro South Health. The service is committed to the provision of services that at patient centred and recovery focused. The purpose of this role is to provide clinical expertise and consultancy through advanced clinical leadership relevant to the speciality of Forensic Mental Health Recovery.

About the Role

The role is responsible for delivering quality care at an advanced level that requires a broad developing knowledge in professional issues within recovery practice.

The role liaises and collaborates with all relevant stakeholders to promote primary mental health care outcomes for patients by understanding and responding to a variety of service provision environments (GP's, NGO's. and other Government Departments).

The position provides a contact and a source of professional advice for care providers and other relevant clinical stakeholders on mental health service delivery, comprehensive assessments, risk management and Mental Health Act 2016 legislation.

  • The Forensic Liaison Officer (FLO) utilises high level knowledge and skills to work collaboratively with community and inpatient mental health services, state-wide services, other government and non-government organisations to provide oversight, monitoring and coordination of the treatment and care of Forensic Order (mental health) (FO), Forensic Order (disability) (FO), Treatment Support Order (TSO) and other consumers at a high risk of violence as per the requirements of the Mental Health Act
  • Ensures the adherence to the Chief Psychiatrist Policy for the treatment and care of forensic order, treatment support order and high-risk patients, other relevant state-wide policies and the FLO network standards/Model of
  • The FLO actively contributes to the state-wide FLO Network and works closely with the Program Coordinator State-wide FLO Network, Queensland Forensic Mental Health
  • The FLO assists the Hospital and Health Service (HHS) mental health service to develop capacity to confidently work with FO, TSO and complex high-risk
