About us:
Rockhampton Hospital is a 305-bed facility serving as the main referral hospital for Central Queensland, offering integrated cancer care in a new, state-of-the-art building. It works alongside other regional hospitals and smaller rural units that transfer patients for specialist care. The hospital provides training for medical students and has a strong focus on developing the local medical workforce through its Medical Education Unit and registrar training.
Specialist services include emergency medicine, general medicine, cardiology, surgery, obstetrics, psychiatry, and more, with some services provided by visiting specialists from tertiary hospitals. It is accredited for training in various specialties, including emergency medicine, surgery, anaesthetics, and paediatrics. The hospital has four operating theatres, two procedure rooms, and a 6-bed ICU/HDU. In 2017-2018, it performed over 9,600 elective surgeries and nearly 3,900 emergency surgeries, showcasing its important role in healthcare for Central Queensland.
About the role:
The Registrar\Principal House Officer assists the staff specialists and senior medical staff in the management of Otolaryngology services and surgeries to patients in Central Queensland. They will also be responsible for supporting our visiting Urology team. They will have duties as part of the General Surgery registrar on call roster.
About you:
- MBBS or equivalent to enable registration as a Medical Practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) at Level 3 supervision.
- If qualifications were obtained outside of Australia, the candidate must be eligible for registration with AHPRA with Level 3 supervision and provide the following:
- Evidence of successful completion of IELTS or equivalent English Language Test results within the last year,
- Evidence of successful completion of AMC MCQ (Part 1) Examination,
- Evidence of recency of clinical practice, supported by current references.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification is required.
What we offer:
Total remuneration value of up to $160,859 p.a. (L7) is comprised of:
- A salary rate between $125,808 - $138,571 p.a. (L4 – L7)
