Clinical Nurse Consultant/Specialist

Experience everything Cairns has to offer while working as a Clinical Nurse (Respiratory Outpatient) with Thoracic / Respiratory Outpatient Clinic, Integrated Medicine, Emergency, Child and Youth Services. The Thoracic Outpatients Clinic runs Monday-Friday with 4 consultant clinics and a nurse-led clinic. These clinics include asthma, spirometry, non-tuberculosis mycobacteria (NTM) clinic and clinical reviews.

The Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service covers a large geographic area with a diverse and growing population. The Health Service provides a wide range of primary care, acute and specialist services.

About your opportunity:

In this position you will provide clinical leadership within the Thoracic Medicine Department. Assist with preparing consultant clinics as well as running nursing clinics. Be able to function in more complex situations while providing support, direction and education to the Registered Nurse and other non-registered nursing personnel.

About your role:

  • Implement and monitor the organisation's quality standards, work health and safety policies, procedures and programs and provide clinical governance in the relevant work area.
  • Ability to manage complex patients from culturally and socioeconomic diverse backgrounds across all age groups.
  • Ability to practise autonomously.
  • Have an interest in Thoracic Medicine and develop knowledge in the management of respiratory disease from the outpatient/ ambulatory perspective.
  • Ability to develop skills and understanding of spirometry.
