About the role:
As a Registered Nurse within our team, you will play a crucial role in delivering safe, compassionate, and person-centred care. This involves collaborating with patients, families, carers, and the multidisciplinary team to achieve identified goals and outcomes. The position operates within a case management framework, requiring you to work closely with families, carers, and various service providers to provide evidence-based, recovery-oriented care that values the lived experiences of consumers.
To be successful in this role, you will have experience working with individuals who have acute mental health disorders, including skills in assessment, care planning, and providing evidence-based interventions. You must be capable of working autonomously and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, balancing competing demands and prioritising your workload effectively. Strong skills in risk assessment, particularly concerning harm to self or others, and the development of safety plans are essential. We seek a team player with excellent time management skills who is committed to lifelong learning and delivering outstanding care for patients, families, and carers.
The successful candidate will receive a comprehensive orientation program that includes personalised mentoring and regular check-ins with the leadership team during the initial months. Additionally, a clinical supervisor will be assigned to support your transition into the role. The Greater Newcastle Mental Health Service also offers various learning and development sessions throughout the week, as well as numerous educational and professional development opportunities to help you grow in your career.
Where you’ll be working:

The multidisciplinary team comprises a range of experienced Nurses, Social Workers, Occupational Therapists, Psychologists, Dietitian and Psychiatrists that work collaboratively to provide excellent mental health care. The team has a reputation within Hunter New England Mental Health as being a nurturing and teaching environment for staff.
