Join our team as a Registered Midwife in our Midwifery Group Practice on a Full or Part Time - Fixed Term basis (Parental Leave), working at Casey Hospital in Berwick until March 2026.

 

About the Role  

The MGP midwife works within a collaborative multidisciplinary team. Underpinning the success of our program is midwifery and medical staff supporting continuity of care and women’s choices throughout pregnancy and birth. Midwifery continuity of care has been demonstrated to increase satisfaction and outstanding outcomes for mothers and babies. Working within the MGP model you are able to commit to working to a full scope of midwifery practice, providing care to the woman and her family across the full continuum of pregnancy and birth in an all risk model, incorporating homebirth opportunities. Work close to home within the Casey Hospital catchment area, providing support to your local community.

All opportunities require working within a 24/7 rotational roster and also requires On Call.

 

About Us

Expanding services to Casey Hospital las led to our ability to care for women with varying levels of complexity, as we now have critical care services on site to support their journey. Casey Hospital services the Casey and Cardinia catchment areas, the most rapidly growing area in the state. Our birth numbers are growing in line with the population growth in this area and runs an offsite pregnancy clinic in a state of the art community clinic at Pakenham.

 

About You

To ensure your success in this role you will bring the following demonstrated skills, experience and knowledge:

  • Demonstrated maternity experience across the continuum of pregnancy care including antenatal clinics and midwifery home care.  
  • Level 3 FSEP  
  • Demonstrate competence in IV cannulation, perineal suturing, fetal scalp electrode application, amniotomy, speculum examination, cervical ripening balloon insertion, and neonatal discharge examination.  
  • a commitment to supporting other midwives the opportunity to gain and maintain full scope of practice
  • proven ability to work collaboratively with a highly skilled multidisciplinary team to achieve goals and health outcomes
  • sound communication skills, enabling the development and maintenance of effective working relationships with health professionals, support staff and other stakeholders, both internal and external to Monash Health
  • demonstrated organisational skills, time management, analytical and problem solving skills
  • You are driven and look forward to growing your career with the support of amazing mentors and educators within our highly skilled broader Maternity team.
  • Current AHPRA registration to practice as a Registered Midwife
  • Current Drivers licence to facilitate on call.
