About the opportunity:

Position: Clinical Nurse (Specialist Palliative Care in Residential Aged Care Facilities)

Vacancy: Pemanent part-time, 56 hours per fortnight

Location: Palliative Care, Townsville University Hospital

The position provides high quality clinical care to meet the palliative care needs of residential aged care residents across the care continuum. This includes: 

  • Telephone triage of palliative care needs of residential aged care residents. 
  • Follow up of residential aged care residents after palliative care intervention. 
  • Follow up of residential aged care residents admitted for inpatient care within the palliative care unit. 
  • Outreach to residential aged care homes.
  • Education to residential aged care home nursing staff to support clinical care.

  • Salary range: $54.44 to $58.30 p.h. (Nurse Grade 6-Band 1)
  • 4 to 6 weeks annual leave with 14%-17.5% loading
  • 12.75% employer contribution to superannuation

Requirements:

  • Qualification: Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent certification relevant to the position is mandatory.
  • Highly Desirable: Possession of a relevant postgraduate qualification in an appropriate field is highly desirable. Such experience may be discipline specific or have a service area focus.
  • Drivers Licence: This position requires the incumbent to operate a class C motor vehicle and an appropriate license endorsement to operate this vehicle is required.  Proof of this endorsement must be provided prior to the commencement of duty.
  • National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) Worker Screening Check:  As a Health Care worker in Queensland Health who engages in risk-assessed roles, you must hold a current disability check (Yellow Card or Yellow Card Exemption) or an NDIS worker screening check, in accordance with Part 5 of the Disability Services Act 2006 (Qld).
