Where you'll be working:
The Palliative Care Occupational Therapist works within a specialist team including a Clinical Nurse consultant, Clinical Nurse Specialist, Social Worker and GP/VMO. The Specialist Palliative Care Team covers the Armidale, Glen Innes, Inverell, Tenterfield and surrounding areas. It is part of the New England North West Integrated Care Service.

About the role:
The Occupational Therapist will work with more complex patients referred into the specialist Palliative Team. You will often be performing home visits or undertaking Virtual Care appointments to assist the palliative patient and their family remain comfortable and safe within their home. You will be working closely with the nursing staff and other allied health teams that are closer to the patient’s hometown.
You will have the support and guidance of specialist nurses in the Specialist Palliative Care Team. The Palliative Care Stream offers regular meetings, training, and workshops.
About you:
You will have a solid understanding of the needs of the palliative patient and their carer’s/family. You will be capable of conducting remote/virtual appointments when necessary and also be prepared to travel for those patients that require a face to face home visit.You will be able to work closely with the nursing staff and other local staff who see the patient on a more regular basis.
