An exciting opportunity to join the General Medicine team at the Northern Beaches Hospital.
The Unaccredited Trainee will undertake rotations in medical wards, MAU, relief and afterhours medical ward cover. When working afterhours ward cover they will be expected to participate in a 24/7 shift roster.
The primary clinical responsibility for the Unaccredited Trainee will be the provision of day-to-day patient management, with a focus on quality, safety and patient flow.

Northern Beaches Hospital provides world-class, Level 5 delineation services for both public and private patients. The hospital features 486 beds, 50-bed Emergency Department, 20-bed general and cardiothoracic ICU, 14 fully equipped theatres, including hybrid theatres, two cardiac catheter labs, extensive digital imaging / diagnostic facilities, medical centre collocated with ED, state of the art education and interactive SIM centre and a Helipad for Emergency Transport.
The Northern Beaches Hospital provides a high standard of education and training, with dedicated supervisors, teachers and a JMO Unit that supports all activities related to rostering, training, education and welfare of junior doctors.
On level 4 of the 9-storey hospital is the Education Centre where doctors can access a range of facilities. These include the latest technology for teaching, simulation and presentations, plus various meeting rooms and conference areas.
There is capability to stream education sessions to/from other facilities, as well as within the hospital for the simulation rooms and theatres.
What you'll be doing
The General Medicine Unaccredited Trainee is expected to provide effective clinical management of patients, under appropriate supervision, including patient assessment, making treatment decisions, performing procedures and maintaining adequate medical records; and to develop expertise in medical practice, in a complex clinical environment. This includes supervised general medical management of patients admitted to specialist departments.
