We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Advanced Nurse Unit Manager Operations Lead to join our Nursing Midwifery and Patient Services Team.

The SALHN operations Command Centre provides a centralised location which allows for the monitoring and evaluating of all existing functions of the SALHN IMT/ SALHN patient flow board sub-committee, providing a single point of contact for timely and safe coordination of demand, capacity, access and flow. This role will work closely with other Nurses and Midwifes and provide support to less experienced members of the operational team.

About the role:

Reporting to the Deputy Director Nursing and Midwifery, duties for this role will include:

  • Initiate and/or oversee innovations, systemic change processes, and co-ordination of responses to nursing/midwifery practice and health service needs within their span of control
  • Developing and implementing strategies for effective patient flow
  • Contribute to human resource systems implementation including processes and standards of nursing/midwifery staff recruitment, performance, development and retention within span of control
  • Proactively develop and implement strategies to manage identified risk
  • Provides leadership and direction, acts as a role model, mentor, consultant and resource person

About you:

  • Effective leadership skills including highly developed skills in communication, problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiation
  • Proven ability to perform effectively under pressure and prioritise workloads
  • Registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate
  • Experience in health operations including but not limited to patient flow & demand management
  • Experience in managing and supporting complex projects
