Clinical Nurse Consultant/Specialist

Where you'll be working

Royal North Shore Hospital


You will be working within a comprehensive cancer services team delivering on a coordinated, multidisciplinary focused model of care and outcomes for patients with cancer.

What you'll be doing

This position is for an expert nurse who provides a consultancy to patients undergoing treatment for Pancreatic Cancerand co-ordinates the Pancreatic Cancer Service multidisciplinaryteam (MDT) meetings and clinics.


The position will:
1. Provide a link between the patient and carers and the Pancreatic MDT
2. Co-ordinate prospective patients regarding first contact, appointments, clinical reviews and treatment
3. Collate clinical information and organise referrals
4. Co-ordinate preoperative care and planned discharge
5. Develop Pancreatic Cancer Clinical Models of Care for patient journey

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:

  1. Registered with Authority to Practice with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency. Minimum five years full time post graduate experience with 3 years full time equivalent in the specialty of Gastrointestinal Surgery or Oncology nursing.
  2. An approved post graduate qualification (minimum Grad Diploma/Certificate level) or evidence of working towards Masters level qualification in gastrointestinal or oncology nursing.
  3. Excellent interpersonal communication and interpersonal skills, including a demonstrated ability to maintain and establish networks across multiple disciplines.
  4. Demonstrated commitment to evidence based practice through participation in research based projects and activities.
  5. Effective organisational, time management, research and computer skills and proven ability to assess, plan, initiate and manage complex cases and work to goals and targets.
  6. Demonstrated commitment to personal and professional development and quality improvement.
