About Us

Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District (NBMLHD) is a wonderful place to expand your career and grow your skills and knowledge. As a recognised leader in the healthcare industry, we provide a range of public health services to the Nepean, Blue Mountains, and Lithgow Region.

Nepean Hospital is a teaching hospital that provides tertiary referral services in emergency care, coronary care, diagnostics, gynaecology, paediatric, neonatal intensive care/ICU, maternity, mental health, rehabilitation, and surgery. The Nepean Campus has recently experienced tremendous growth and aims to support communities within and outside of Sydney’s western suburbs, providing world-class clinical facilities, services, and care.

An opportunity is now available to join the team in the After Hours Virtual Palliative Care team located at Nepean Hospital in a Temporary Full time or Part time role.

This contract is until June 2026 and is open to Registered Nurses who will work in an indirect role and respond to calls to the Palliative Care After-Hours Virtual Service from community palliative care patients, their caregivers, families and other clinicians within the service in order to provide safe, compassionate, person-centred health care in collaboration with patients, families, carers and multidisciplinary teams.

Using a virtual care platform and telephone, the Registered Nurse will provide clinical advice and support to patients, caregivers and other clinicians during after-hours (evenings and on call overnight). You will have access to a senior medical palliative care specialist and after-hours nurse manager for escalation of concerns, or requirements for a change in a patient’s care plan.

Working in the After Hours Virtual Palliative Care Team will allow you to meet the needs of staff, patients and their families whilst working in a diverse team demonstrating CORE values whilst providing exceptional person-centered care.

We encourage you to apply now to join the team!
