Clinical Nurse Consultant/Specialist

An exciting opportunity exists for a Registered Nurse to lead and deliver person centred nursing care within the dynamic health environment of the Mental Health and Specialised Services (SCHHS MHSS) which operates an integrated model of care that provides a range of mental health services across community and hospital settings. Within the SCHHS-MHSS, the interdisciplinary approach (including family and carer involvement) is vital in ensuring continuity of care across a network of crisis intervention, acute care, maintenance of care and extended community treatment.

Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service (SCHHS) is in southeast Queensland and extends through the coastal and hinterland areas from Caloundra in the south and Gympie in the north.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Fulfil the responsibilities of this role in accordance with Schedule 2, Nurses and Midwives (Queensland Health Award) – State 2015 – Generic Level Statements Nurse Grade 5 and the Queensland Public Service values.
  • Understand your broad responsibilities for safety and quality in healthcare, actively participate in continuous quality and safety improvement activities within the workplace and notify a relevant clinical or non-clinical responsible officer when concerns exist about workplace or patient safety.
  • Continuity of care and the promotion of patient safety and quality are paramount and informed by evidence-based practice consistent with national, state and local mental health policies and directions.
  • The underpinning principles and commitment of the SCHHS-MHSS include the provision of services which are person centred and recovery oriented with the aim of assisting individuals with mental illness to realise their optimal potential as individuals and as valued citizens of the community.
  • The active involvement of consumers, families and carers is encouraged to assist in promoting resilience and recovery for the consumer.

Salary rates: $37.46 - $48.05 p.h., employer contribution to superannuation (up to 12.75%) and annual leave loading (17.5%) (Nurse Grade 5) (Permanent Part-Time position available, 48 hrs p.f.)
