We have an exciting permanent full-time opportunity for you to join our Communicable Diseases Branch located in Herston! You will provide advanced practice level for surveillance, prevention, and control of communicable disease.
The role
Reporting to the Assistant Director of Nursing, Blood Borne Viruses and Sexually Transmissible Infections (BBVSTI) Unit, you will have the opportunity to assist the HIV Public Health Team in the team's public health role in relation to HIV.
The successful candidates will have skills and experience to enable them to contribute to the team's activities in surveillance, prevention and control of communicable disease and assisting clients and clinicians to effectively manage complex health issues to achieve optimal client and public health outcomes.
It is an essential requirement the successful candidate has current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) and registered on the “Register of Practitioners” Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) with a current annual practicing certificate.
The successful person
You will have:
- Knowledge of contemporary public health nursing or HIV nursing and medical management of HIV which promotes individual and public health.
- Skill and experience in contact tracing and high-level understanding of guidelines and legislation concerning public health obligations of individuals and clinicians in the prevention of HIV and promotion of safe behaviours.
- Skills and experience in assessment, case management, consultation and liaison which enable an objective appraisal of HIV-related concerns, and a commitment to engage in public health processes which support clinicians, individuals and groups affected by HIV or HIV transmission risks.
- Understanding of quality data collection, management and analysis.
- High level communication skills including interpersonal, verbal and written, and the ability to work cohesively as an active member of the HIV Public Health Team and CDB.
