An exciting opportunity exists for a Clinical Nurse to lead and deliver person centred nursing care at an advanced level within Inpatient Unit 5A at Sunshine Coast University Hospital which is a 32-bed acute inpatient unit with a subspecialty of Orthopaedics.
The CN is expected to be able to practice autonomously and provide leadership in clinical decision making. They have the responsibility for professional leadership in the absence of the Nurse Grade 7 and an opportunity to work collaboratively to lead practice changes and clinical innovation.

Key Responsibilities include:
- Fulfil the responsibilities of this role in accordance with Schedule 2, Nurses and Midwives (Queensland Health Award) – State 2015 – Generic Level Statements Nurse Grade 6, Band 1 and the Queensland Public Service values.
- Understand your broad responsibilities for safety and quality in healthcare, actively participate in continuous quality and safety improvement activities within the workplace and notify a relevant clinical or non-clinical responsible officer when concerns exist about workplace or patient safety.
- Practice in accordance with code of ethics, professional standards and legislation affecting nursing practice by maintaining current knowledge and competence within scope of position.
- Specialist services include:
- Orthogeriatric patient cohort – Neck of Femur fractures
- Trauma patients
- Elective and emergent orthopaedic patients
- Spinal surgery
- Specialised orthopaedic procedures including traction.
Remuneration value up to $111 073 p.a., comprising salary rates: $54.44 - $58.30 p.h., employer contribution to superannuation (up to 12.75%) and annual leave loading (17.5%) (Nurse Grade 6) (Permanent Part-Time, 64hrs p.f. and Fixed-term Temporary, 64hrs p.f for up to six months.).
