The Role

An opportunity has become available for a Clinical Nurse Consultant (Specialist Dementia Care) to join Gold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our 12 000-strong team is on providing world-class health care to people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia.

You will

  • Provide advanced clinical leadership in dementia care.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to improve outcomes.
  • Develop and implement evidence-based care models.
  • Support patient transitions across care settings.

About you

To be successful in this position you will require:

  • Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent  
  • Registration with the Nursing Midwifery Board of Australia
  • Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against and remain vaccinated against - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Hepatitis B
  • Tuberculosis screening, to identify if the tuberculosis vaccination may be required
  • Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed
  • Criminal History Screening will be required for new employees (GCH will cover cost)

Salary

  • Temporary full time
  • Base salary ranging from $5,081.10 - $5,516.60 per fortnight

About Us

The Specialist Dementia Care Program provides a person-centred, multidisciplinary approach to care for people exhibiting very severe behavioural and psychological symptoms of dementia. It caters to people who are unable to receive appropriate care through mainstream aged care services. The Specialist Dementia Care Program offers specialised, transitional residential support to stabilise people's symptoms and help them transition to less intensive care settings.

This Clinical Nurse Consultant position will work collaboratively with General Medicine and Aged Care, the Geriatric team and the specialist unit's nursing staff, to support the Department of Health and Aged Care's Specialist Dementia Care Program through the provision of specialist clinical in-reach services for the Specialist Dementia Care Unit at Southport, Gold Coast.

The Clinical Nurse Consultant position will work collaboratively to introduce, review, and evaluate emerging models of care for patients living with dementia within Gold Coast Hospital and Health Service. This position will work to deliver quality, coordinated care, optimising health outcomes for people who present to the hospital with a range of complex symptoms and vulnerabilities associated with dementia and delirium.
