An exciting opportunity is now available to join the Cancer Care Team in a role of a Clinical Nurse Consultant Grade 2. This position is a Temporary Part time role until June 2027.

The McGrath Cancer Care Nurse (MCCN) GIT Oncology CNC2 provides care information, and support for people with cancer across the continuity of care pathways and multidisciplinary teams across the cancer care community within the Health Service/demographic region. The position will see you provide collaborative clinical and supportive care for people and their families, along with the facilitation of communication across the multidisciplinary cancer care team.

The McGrath Cancer Care Nurse - CNC2 will have expert knowledge regarding the spectrum of cancer care, inclusive of health assessment, treatment pathways, referrals, and on-going facilitation of clinical and supportive cancer care andwho will provide leadership, advice and recommendations on all aspects of nursing/midwifery and consults on matters relating to the safe and appropriate use of nursing/midwifery practices.

This role will see you formulate and implement policy, guide practice development, and engage in education and research activities and is responsible for the provision of clinical supervision to nursing staff and acts as a role model, providing nursing care on a regular basis.

A Clinical Nurse Consultant 2 (CNC2) will work collaboratively to provide safe, compassionate, person-centred health care in collaboration with patients, families, carers and multidisciplinary teams.

What you will bring to the role:

  1. Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency and current NSW Driver’s License and willingness to use same as required for the position
  2. Minimum five years full time equivalent post registration experience, with at least three years full time equivalent experience in Oncology nursing and post graduate qualifications in Cancer nursing - oncology and/or palliative care or such other qualifications or experience deemed appropriate.
  3. Evidence of consistent demonstration of behaviours that reinforce the CORE Values of our organisation with all stakeholders including colleagues, direct reports patients and consumers.
  4. Demonstrated clinical leadership skills and an ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary framework with a demonstrated commitment to excellence in nursing/midwifery practice.
  5. Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills across a variety of mediums and an understanding of the practice development framework to clinical practice.
  6. Demonstrated involvement in the development/change of clinical practice underpinned by evidence-based research.
  7. Demonstrated ability to contribute to strategic and clinical service planning.
  8. Ability to apply clinical expertise in patient-centred consultancy with the ability to work effectively both as a member of a multidisciplinary team and independently.
