A Metropolitan SA hospital requires a Junior Medical Officer in Psychiatry from 06/11/2024 to 02/02/2025.
RMO Responsibilities
Clinical handover of issues from night doctor
At 8am each day (8am start will alternate with the Registrar)
Attendance at morning ward multidisciplinary meetings/integrated management meeting
Commencing 9am in the NBU. This is the time that critical information arising from the previous work day/after hours are discussed, and day tasks allocated. In addition, new admissions are discussed.
Participation in wellbeing reviews/ward rounds
The Multidisciplinary team, including nursing staff, Consultant psychiatrist
and Geriatrician, and registrar assemble to discuss consumers weekly.
These will also at times include carers to comprehensively discuss the care plan and transition towards transfer of care to a less specialised setting. The TMO will be expected to present medical aspects ofprogress and discuss management issues.
Participation in Ward Clinical/Medical work
The TMO will work with consumers in a person-centred focus of care,
working with the Treating Psychiatrist and Multi-disciplinary team to formulate and action a collaborative treatment and care plan. The TMO will work with the Registrar and be aware of acute/chronic physical issues that are to be optimised to provide quality care. Advice on physical/medical aspects of care will be generally provided by the Consultant Geriatrician.
SACAT hearings
If required, the TMO will be expected to attend any SACAT hearings of their consumers. Early in the term, this will be supported by Registrar or Consultant staff.
