A Metropolitan SA hospital requires a Junior Medical Officer in Psychiatry from 06/11/2024 to 02/02/2025.

RMO Responsibilities
The RMO will be required to participate in the following regular activities:

• Attendance at morning ward multidisciplinary meetings/Tier 1 huddle Commencing 0900 in the nurse staff room. This is the time that critical information arising from the previous evening are discussed. In addition, new
admissions are presented and allocated.

• Participation in ward rounds
The Multidisciplinary team, including the Unit’s social worker, nursing staff,
Consultant psychiatrist and registrar assemble to discuss patients.

The RMO will be expected to present a patient’s history/progress and discuss management issues.

• Participation in Ward Clinical/Medical work
The RMO will work with patients in a person-centred focus of care, working with the Treating Psychiatrist and Multi-disciplinary team to formulate and action a collaborative treatment and care plan. The RMO is required to liaise with various stakeholders involved in the patient’s care, particularly families/carers/Guardians. They are expected to participate in other routine clinical duties: blood tests, ECT screens and workup etc. It is expected that the RMO will escalate concerns related to deteriorating patients to senior staff for appropriate guidance and care planning.

• SACAT hearings
If required, the RMO will be expected to attend any SACAT hearings of their patients. Early in the term, this will be supported by Registrar or Consultant staff if not previously experienced in these hearings.

• Mental Health Act 2009
It is expected that the RMO work within the legislated requirements of the Mental
Health Act 2009.
