CLINICAL TALENT POOL - Joyce Palmer Health Service

Townsville Hospital and Health Service are seeking Registered Nurses to join the team within the Joyce Palmer Health Service at Palm Island on a permanent full-time basis.

Joyce Palmer Health Service consists of an Emergency Department, 15 bed inpatient unit, renal dialysis services and home care services. PJoyce Palmer Health Service promotes and supports an integrated service provision across all aspects of care, aiming to achieve appropriate and timely access to care for all residents of Palm Island.

About your opportunity:

Permanent full-time / Location: Palm Island

The purpose of this position is to provide high quality, evidence-based nursing care to the people of Palm Island. This will include working in all areas of emergency and inpatient services.

The ideal applicant will be someone who has proven ability and can demonstrate the following:

  • Comprehensively assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care.
  • Knowledge of legal and professional responsibilities.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with the multidisciplinary team, patients and other stakeholders, including participation in relevant networks.
  • High standard of written and oral communication skills within the multidisciplinary team, patients and their families.
  • Use or learn to use information systems appropriate to the position.
  • Provide clinical education and support and demonstrate own ongoing professional development.
  • Competency as outlined in the NMBA - Registered nurse standards for practice.

  • Generous remuneration package value up to $121,464 p.a. comprising:
  • Salary range of $3171.90 to $4068.50 p.f. (Nurse Grade 5)
  • Annual leave with 17.5% loading
  • 12.75% employer contribution to superannuation.

  • Rural and Remote Incentive Package - successful applicants may be eligible for RANIP.

Workforce Attraction Incentive Scheme:

Role Requirements:

  • Proof of qualification (Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent), registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and possession of a current practising certificate.
  • This is a Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPD) risk role: Hepatitis A/B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, and Pertussis.
  • Adult Life Support certificate: Must be able to obtain and then maintain an annual competency in Advanced Life Support as per THHSCLI040151 Life Support Training and Assessment (https://qheps.health.qld.gov.au/__data/assets/pdf_file/0038/475778/thhscli040151.pdf
  • Shift Workers: Appointees will be required to work all shifts in accordance with the unit roster, which will include participation in an on-call roster.
  • Travel: Travel by light aircraft or Ferry may be required from Townsville to Palm Island and return.
  • Probation period may apply.
  • Pre-employment checks will be conducted.
