Clinical haematology in the Auckland region includes rewarding broad experience both for general medical trainees and those who want to pursue a haematology career. Inpatient and outpatient, cancer and non-malignant diseases, with lots of opportunities to use your general medical skills too.

Medicine Registrar Runs

Medicine Registrar runs in the Auckland region are six months in length, following which you may rotate into a different run. Example run descriptions for the 2023 training year can be viewed on the Auckland Doctors website. For further information on Advanced Training in New Zealand please visit the RACP website.

There are two types of jobs available:

Advanced Training in Haematology

· You will need to have passed the FRACP written exam or be registered to sit the clinical exam for 2024.

· These positions will only be offered to those who have passed the clinical exam and completed basic training. For those completing the exam later this year and should you not pass the exam, you will no longer be eligible for advanced training position and you may be considered for a run allocation.

· Eligible for registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand. Support and assistance with this process is provided.

· In general you will have completed at least 6 months of clinical haematology before applying.

Six month allocations for those interested in Haematology experience as part of their training in General Medicine or specialty training

· Must be at least a Basic Trainee Registrar with the RACP.

· Eligible for registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand. Support and assistance with this process is provided.

If you are already an Advanced Trainee in Haematology and a current employee in the Auckland region, you do not need to apply via this job listing. You will have independent meetings with your specialty.

Important: Even if you are a current RMO employee in the Auckland region seeking a six month allocation or applying for advanced training in Haematology, you will need to formally apply.

Additional Documentation for Haematology

Irrespective of whether you are currently working or not working as a RMO within the Auckland Region (Auckland district, Counties Manukau district or Waitemata district) you will need to provide the following documentation as part of your application:

· A brief covering letter that details your medical training to date and your future plans for advanced training.

· Ensure you have completed your CV until December 2024 using the CV template as per our website.

· Ensure you provided the three required referees as per our website. At least one reference needs to be from a Physician working in General Medicine or a subspecialty of Internal Medicine.
