2025 Training Year Anaesthesia Senior House Officers

Why train as an Anaesthesia senior house officer:

Complete twelve months of anaesthesia (as either two six month or one 12-month allocation), building your skills and experience in a highly supportive teaching environment

· With satisfactory progress, your second six months will be accredited towards ANZCA Introductory Training

· A comprehensive educational programme, which includes an introductory course to Anaesthesia for SHOs

· At the end of 12 months, you will have an opportunity to apply for an Anaesthesia registrar position.

· Breadth of practice across a large number of clinicians, hospitals, and departments in a range of urban centres and smaller regional cities (Northland, Waitemata, Auckland, Counties Manukau, and Taranaki)

· Twelve-month positions will commence in either January or July

Required experience:

· PGY2+

· Eligibility for registration with ANZCA (Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists) and required prerequisites for ANZCA Introductory Training:

Preferred experience:

· Some exposure to Anaesthesia or time in theatre, a proven interest in Anaesthesia, and knowledge of the training programme
