About the role

This is a multi-site clinical research project. The role will be based at Concord Hospital but will also cover RPA Hospital and the Heart Research Institute.

The project is led by the Heart Research Institute and supported by the Vascular Surgery Units at Concord and RPA Hospitals and managed by Concord's Vascular Surgery's Nursing Unit Manager and will work within the Concord Institute of Academic Surgery.

Previous research and or clinical trials experience in vascular medicine or Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD) preferred with a sound understanding of research, ethics and governanace processes.

The successful applicant will be required to provide clinical and research support for thePADresearch project including:

  • The management of blood and tissue samples between 2 hospital sites (Concord and RPA) and the Heart Research Institute.
  • Support patient recruitment, blood collection and clinical assessment in a timely, ethical and culturally appropriate manner to a diverse range of participants.
  • Record and measure patient endothelial dysfunction using a Endo PAT machine.
  • Prepare, modify and submit human ethics applications and research applications.
  • Conduct data analysis and reporting including clinical audits and other best practice activities.
  • Support the growing consumer network in PAD Research across Concord, RPA and the Heart Research Institute.
  • Work closely with the clinical PAD team and in conjunction with other research teams and senior clinicians.

We are looking for someone who has

  • Current nursing registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA).
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Evidence of participation in own professional development and commitment to maintaining competence and enhancement of skills, and willingness to apply and share professional expertise with colleagues.
  • Experience and/or interest in pursuing further training in clinical research.

About working for SLHD

This is a Category A position. To be employed by NSW Health you are required to provide evidence of vaccination to comply with the NSW Health Occupational Assessment, Screening & Vaccination against Specified Infectious Diseases Policy (PD2023_022).

All NSW Health workers are required to have completed a primary course (2 doses) of a Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) approved or recognised COVID-19 vaccine (except for the Janssen COVID-19 vaccine which is approved by the TGA as a single dose primary course). New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health, or provide an Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW. A NSW Health agency may require further information about the medical contraindication (including but not limited to an Immunisation Medical Exemption form - IM011 form).​

Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations.
