What you'll be doing


The ACAT Assessor will function as part of a multidisciplinary team (MDT), providing comprehensive assessment services to predominantly older people in both the community & hospital setting.


This includes assessing eligibility of clients to receive Commonwealth funded subsidised services e.g. Residential aged care & community care (as authorised by the Aged Care Act 1997) & assisting in the implementation of a support plan.


To actively participate in the activities required to provide a high quality assessment service to older people/ family/ carers of the Western Sydney Local Health District.

Essential Criteria

Tertiary qualification & current registration with AHPRA in Nursing, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy or tertiary qualification in Social Work with eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Work or Speech Pathology with eligibility for membership of Speech Pathology Australia.

Selection Criteria

  1. Demonstrated post graduate experience working with older people in an acute or community setting.
  2. Demonstrated ability to work independently & in an effective manner encompassing appropriate initiative, organisational, problem solving & time management skills.
  3. Proven written & verbal communication skills including demonstrated computer literacy.
  4. Demonstrated ability to work autonomously as well as function as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
  5. Understanding or experience in the health & functional support needs of older people & their carers in the community setting.
  6. Current Drivers Licence (minimum class C) valid within Australia & demonstrated competent driving ability/ experience.
