About the Opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity to join Liverpool Hospital Physiotherapy department as the Senior Ages Care Physiotherapist for 12 months. The Senior Ages Care Physiotherapist oversees the aged care and general medical wards at Liverpool Hospital, including the weekend service. This position supervises a new graduate and level 1/2 physiotherapist.

What you'll be doing
The Senior Aged Care Physiotherapist is responsible for providing a high quality Aged Care and General Medicine Physiotherapy service at Liverpool Hospital. This includes service evaluation and development and use of advanced reasoning and practice skills in the management of geriatric and frail aged patients of complex nature. This position is also responsible for the supervision, teaching and training of new graduate and rotational Level 1/2 Physiotherapists and allied health assistant.

Where You'll Be Working
Liverpool Hospital, founded in 1813, is the major health service for south-western Sydney, providing services to the local government area of Liverpool City Council as well as district services to residents and visitors in the area. It also provides a range of state-wide services in areas such as critical care and trauma, neonatal intensive care and brain injury rehabilitation.

The Hospital provides a health service of international standing, with 23 operating theatres, capacity for 877 beds, diagnostic and imaging services, emergency and trauma care, maternity, paediatric, cancer care, mental health, ambulatory care, allied health and medical and surgical services from birth to aged care.

Liverpool Hospital is currently undergoing a major redevelopment. The $790 million Liverpool Health and Academic Precinct (LHAP) project will provide enhanced facilities and an increased capacity to meet future significant population growth for South Western Sydney.

Liverpool Hospital is a principal referral and teaching Hospital of the UNSW Sydney and the Western Sydney University and also welcome students from over 20 universities and colleges.

Located in the heart of Liverpool City, the hospital is close to public transport, shopping centres and eateries.

  1. Current Physiotherapy Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  2. Demonstrated experience in supervision and teaching of staff and/or students.
  3. Demonstrated commitment to professional development and evidence based practice.
  4. Demonstrated knowledge and experience in quality improvement, research and service development activities.
  5. Demonstrated effective interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills.
  6. Demonstrated effective time management skills and ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  7. Demonstrated extensive level of Aged Care physiotherapy skills and experience, including falls assessment, discharge planning and education to patients and carers
