About you
The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RANZCOG)
  • Specialist registration with the Medical Board of Australia
  • Current accreditation with RANZCOG to supervise trainees and International Medical Graduates

About the role
The Director of Obstetrics and Gynaecology will lead, manage, and develop the Obstetrics and Gynaecology department, education, training and supervision of JMO’S ensuring the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care in line with NSW Health standards. The role involves clinical leadership, administrative oversight, strategic and operational planning and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to promote best practices in women's health.

  • Busy birthing suite (approx. 650 deliveries p.a.) and outpatients clinic (including ANC, Gynaecology, High risk Obstetrics and Colposcopy).
    Surgical services including minimally invasive, open and laparoscopic surgery.
  • JMO support (Accredited Registrar +/- Rural Generalists, SRMO and RMO).
  • Links to well established Department of Paediatrics with special care nursery.
  • Close relationship with the University of Newcastle Department of Rural Health with teaching students in Year 2-5 of the Joint Medical Program. Appointment as a Conjoint Academic is encouraged (level commensurate with qualifications and experience).
  • Supportive Environment - there is a collaborative team and access to the resources across the district including the Women's Health and Maternity Network (WHAM), which is a well-run and collegial network that provides support to clinicians to provide optimal care across a large geographic reach.There are a number of extensively experienced leaders who can support an emerging leader grow their clinical and leadership skills.
