Rewarding OT Opportunity: Group Coordinator Position with SALHN!

As part of the dynamic OPMHS multidisciplinary team, the Occupational Therapist will plan, operationalise, coordinate and monitor therapeutic groups, predominantly in the community psychogeriatric setting. This vital role focuses on enhancing the mental well-being and functional independence of older adults accessing the Older Persons Mental Health Service in an innovative and meaningful way.

About the role:

Reporting to the Team Manager Older Persons Mental Health service and the Principal Occupational Therapist SALHN Mental Health Services, some of your duties as the AHP2 OT Group Coordinator may involve:

  • Assisting with developing structure for the implementation of evidence based therapeutic groups with the multi-disciplinary team members. This will include data collection, monitoring and service design guidance for service development.
  • Contributing to the development of an integrated team approach and culture which is highly responsive to the needs of our consumers.
  • Providing services to consumers which promote and facilitate the use of supports available at the local community level and which take into account social and cultural diversities.
  • Being aware of your own communication style and behaviours and modifying these to achieve positive outcomes and relationships.

About you:

  • Appropriate Degree or equivalent qualification which entitles registration as an Occupational Therapist with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia.
  • Must be highly motivated and have the ability to engage with consumers who have extremely high service needs.
  • Extensive experience in collaborative development, implementation and monitoring of planned intervention groups for consumers with complex mental health needs.
