What you'll be doing
The Senior Research Scientist will be responsible for the development of platelet genomics within Haematology and the Kolling Institute. The role involves efficient management and the production of high-quality research outcomes aimed at discovering new knowledge and known targets for diagnostic translation. The incumbent will oversee daily research activities and administer both government and non-government funded research projects, ensuring compliance with relevant policies and research ethics. This encompasses the supervision of staff, staff training, development of research tools and protocols, establishment and processing of patient samples for research purposes, generating written reports and research papers, presenting research findings, and collaborating with other researchers. Additionally, the Senior Scientist will maintain close communication with research staff in the diagnostic laboratory and medical staff in the Sydney Platelet Group and Department of Haematology at Royal North Shore Hospital, playing a pivotal role in translating research findings into diagnostic and clinical trial settings.

  1. Possesses a higher degree in biomedical science or a related field, preferably postgraduate qualifications
  2. Significant experience in diagnostic genetic testing
  3. Experience in validating test methodologies for NATA assessment
