About the Role

As a Consultant Psychiatrist, you will play a pivotal role in providing exceptional clinical leadership within the mental health service. You will ensure the delivery of best-practice, consumer-focused care, leading a multidisciplinary approach to patient management. Your expertise will contribute to the highest standard of mental health services, supporting individuals with complex needs. You will work in line with the policies and professional standards set by the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists, while also contributing to teaching, research, and continuous medical education initiatives.

You will be based within the CALHN 24-Bed Inpatient Mental Health Rehabilitation Unit (IMHRU), where you’ll provide contemporary, evidence-based rehabilitation services to patients. In this collaborative environment, you will engage with inpatient, community, and rehabilitation services within the Mental Health Clinical Program to ensure positive outcomes for consumers. This role offers the opportunity to influence clinical care, contribute to quality and safety management, and actively participate in improving mental health services across the region.

About You

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Medical Practitioner to join our team. As an ideal candidate, you will have a strong clinical background in mental health, demonstrated leadership skills, and a passion for quality improvement in patient care.

About You
To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate:

  • Relevant Qualifications: MBBS or equivalent, Specialist registration with the Medical Board of Australia, and Fellowship with the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists.
  • Clinical Expertise & Leadership: Proven high standard of clinical practice in mental health, along with leadership and motivational skills in a multidisciplinary environment.
  • Commitment to Development: Ongoing participation in continuing professional development and experience in the supervision and teaching of medical staff.
  • Comprehensive Knowledge & Skills: Solid understanding of mental health policies, recovery-based practices, and the rights of consumers and their families, alongside the ability to utilise ICT in clinical care.
