Get paid to live in paradise and join our Lotus Glen Health Service, Rural and Remote Services team as a Clinic Nurse (Blood Borne Virus and Sexual Health). Lotus Glen Health Service (LGHS) is a rapidly growing division within the CHHHS region, delivering primary health care services to detained, remanded, and sentenced prisoners located at the Lotus Glen Correctional Centre (LGCC) and Lotus Glen Open Custody Farm. The Secure Centre has a capacity to house approximately 976 prisoners and the Open Custody Farm accommodates 124 prisoners. The main catchment area of the centre is North Queensland, with a disproportionately large representation from first nations communities. Nursing cover is provided 24/7 with nursing staff responsible for patient assessment, minor treatment, and patient transfers.
The Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service covers a large geographic area with a diverse and growing population. The Health Service provides a wide range of primary care, acute and specialist services.

About your opportunity:
In this position you will provide comprehensive, holistic nursing services to patients within the Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service. As a Blood Borne Virus and Sexual Health Clinical Nurse at Lotus Glen Correctional Centre, you will deliver clinical care and leadership in managing blood borne viruses and sexual health. Your role involves implementing and overseeing protocols, providing high-quality, culturally sensitive care, and ensuring safety within the correctional environment. You will lead and mentor staff, educate inmates, and contribute to quality improvement initiatives. With a focus on clinical excellence, you will maintain accurate records and support the diverse needs of the inmate population while upholding regulatory standards and best practices.
About your role:
- Provide advanced clinical care and management for patients with blood borne viruses and sexual health issues.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate clinical protocols and strategies.
- Lead operational and strategic planning in the areas of blood borne viruses and sexual health.
- Manage resources efficiently, including human, financial, and material resources.
- Ensure compliance with clinical governance standards and regulatory requirements.
- Foster and maintain effective partnerships with Hospital and Health Services and Queensland Corrective Services.
- Deliver culturally sensitive care and support to diverse patient populations.
