This role is a rotational midwifery role where the successful candidate will provide antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal care to women in the Maternity Inpatient Unit and Birth Suite. Opportunities may also exist to rotate to antenatal clinics and home visiting midwifery services.

About the opportunity:
Position: Clinical Midwife
Vacancy: Permanent part-time, hours negotiable
Location: Maternity Services Rotation, Townsville University Hospital
In this role, you will provide clinical leadership: supporting the multidisciplinary team to achieve collaborative care utilizing team engagement, advanced clinical skills, knowledge, and problem solving to effectively coordinate care delivery and manage complex situations.
Townsville University Hospital (TUH) offers women various models of care within the hospital setting including a low-risk Birth Centre model and all risk Midwifery Group Practise (MGP) model and has an established Maternal Fetal Medicine (MFM) Unit. TUH has approximately 2600 births per year.

Requirements:
- Bachelor of Midwifery or equivalent is a mandatory qualification for this position.
- Midwifery: Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and possession of a current practising certificate.
- Demonstrate clinical skills in IV cannulation, water immersion in labour and waterbirth, perineal suturing and speculum examination. If not competent in these skills must be willing to undertake the necessary training during the term of this employment.
- The successful candidate will be required to complete mandatory competencies including the Extended Practice Authority for Midwives, Examination of the Newborn package, and the Water Immersion in Labour package, within three months of commencement.
- Shift Workers: Appointees will be required to work all shifts in accordance with the unit roster.
- This is a Vaccine Preventable Disease (VPD) risk role.
- Probation period may apply.
- Pre-employment checks will be conducted.
