This is a 7 month opportunity for you to step into a leadership role as the Associate Nurse Unit Manager (Emergency Department). Provide an advanced level of leading, directing and coordinating the nursing and associated services within a clinical unit to provide the highest level of care to patients and meeting national and professional standards.

The Rockhampton Hospital and Emergency Department (ED) provides a 24-hours, seven day a week adult and paediatric emergency health services. The ED treats a range of patients from those with life threatening trauma, medical and surgical conditions to those requiring basic medical care.

About us:

Rockhampton Hospital is one of seventeen hospitals in Central Queensland Health (CQ Health). The Emergency Department (ED) is the hub of clinical activity for Acute and Emergency Care across the CQ Health and the ED provides clinical support across the CQ Health in the form of telephone and video-conference advice. The ED has 17 treatment bays, fast track bay and a 12 bed Emergency Extended Care Unit.

About the role:

Within the Emergency Unit you will be assisting the Nurse Unit Manager in the key initiatives of a CQ Health casual pool. This position is aimed at establishing an initiative to assist all Nurse Unit Managers (NUM) and Directors of Nursing (DON) in Facilitates to minimise workloads linked to recruitment, retention and building a stable workforce.

  • Be innovative with technology associated with nursing workforce.
  • Work in collaboration with NUM and DONs at facility levels for workforce needs.
  • Be innovative with recruitment strategies.
  • Assist in the reduction of agency utilisation, high overtime usage and fatigue leave management.
  • Undertake operational leadership of the staff in the emergency department.
  • Responsible for enacting strategies that supports a work-based culture that promotes and supports education, learning, research, and workforce development with the staff.
  • Work collaboratively to apply principal of clinical governance around staffing by ensuring all new and existing staff have all the tools to provide safe care within the emergency department.

About you:

Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and registration as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).

Post Graduate qualification (or working towards) in Emergency Nursing is highly desirable.

  • Post graduate qualification in leadership and or management is also highly desirable.

What we offer:

Total monthly remuneration value of $11,538 p.m. is comprised of:

  • An hourly rate of $61.20 p.h.
  • 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
