The PositionAn opportunity has arisen for a Senior Medical Officer (SMO) to join a well-supported health service in regional Queensland. This role involves delivering high-quality inpatient, outpatient, and emergency medical care within a collaborative and multidisciplinary team. The SMO will also have the opportunity to work within a nearby private general practice, enhancing continuity of care for patients.
This position is ideal for a Rural Generalist or General Practitioner looking for a rewarding role in a dynamic rural healthcare setting. The role includes participation in a rostered emergency department coverage, with the potential to contribute to Obstetric or Anaesthetic on-call services, depending on credentials.
Flexible full-time or part-time contracts are available, with 12 or 24-month agreements considered.

Essential Criteria
- General or Specialist Registration with AHPRA
- Fellowship of RACGP, ACRRM, or enrollment in a recognized training pathway
- Advanced Skills in Emergency Medicine, Obstetrics, Anaesthesia, Mental Health, or Paediatrics highly desirable
- Experience working in a rural or regional setting is advantageous
- A commitment to clinical excellence, patient safety, and community-focused healthcare
- Willingness to participate in on-call rosters as required
The Package
- Competitive salary: $182,106 – $266,677 per annum (pro rata)
