The PositionAn opportunity exists for a Senior Medical Officer (SMO) to join a rural hospital and general practice setting in Queensland. The role involves providing inpatient, outpatient, and emergency medical care across multiple health services, with 24-hour emergency department coverage on a rostered basis. The successful candidate will work closely with a multidisciplinary team and have the opportunity to lead, mentor, and supervise junior doctors and students. The role offers flexibility with 12- to 24-month contracts available, as well as an option to start as a locum before transitioning into a permanent role.

Essential Criteria
- AHPRA Registration as a Medical Practitioner
- FRACGP or FACRRM (or enrolled in an approved training program)
- Advanced skills in Emergency Medicine, Anaesthetics, or Rural Generalist Medicine preferred
- Commitment to rural healthcare, leadership, and clinical governance
- Ability to participate in on-call rosters

- Salary: $182,106 – $266,677 per annum (pro rata) + Super
