Overview

This is a great opportunity to work within theMidwifery Group Practice team and share in leading the maternity team with contemporary models of care. In this role, you will provide support to Midwife Unit Manager in the leadership of midwives at the Kangaroo Island Health Service. Promoting continuity and consistency of care in collaboration with other Nurse Unit Managers and the multidisciplinary maternity care team, you will contribute to the implementation of practice changes and undertake service management responsibilities. These will include performance management processes, recruitment, staffing, leave management, rostering, work allocation and attendance management, financial and supplies planning and monitoring. Utilising your nursing/midwifery skills and knowledge, you will support and work collaboratively with less experienced members of the maternity team. You will be registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse/Midwife by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, and hold or be eligible to hold a current practicing certificate. With prior experience in management and leadership roles, you will be capable of giving supervision to student nurses, Enrolled Nurses and less experienced Registered Nurses/Midwives. You will use your effective communication, problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiation skills to maintain a cohesive multidisciplinary team and resolve local or immediate maternity care problems.
