We are looking for a Clinical Nurse Consultant – Alcohol and Other Drug Services (AODS) to join our team. This position provides expert contemporary knowledge and application of alcohol and other drug practice and theory, utilising contemporary evidence based clinical practice to guide high quality, safe clinical services across West Moreton Health.

This is a permanent full-time opportunity.

About the role

The Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) is an expert clinical practice registered nurse who provides specialised clinical support and nursing leadership as a member of a multidisciplinary Alcohol and Other Drug Service providing interventions to adults receiving care under the Mental Health Community and Acute Services (CAS).

About you

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:

  • Demonstrates specialised knowledge and skills in complex, contemporary nursing practice and theory in AODS nursing, working autonomously within a multidisciplinary team requiring minimal direct supervision.
  • Demonstrated high level interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral, and the ability to work effectively and collaboratively within teams, with clients and their families and with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Possesses advanced clinical leadership qualities recognised at service level to assess, guide and contribute to implementation of innovative and evidence based clinical practices.
  • Provide expert professional advice to primary mental health care providers regarding service delivery, clinical assessments and care planning across the continuum, risk management, mental health legislation.
  • Applies specialised nursing knowledge to primary mental health care and integrated service delivery models, demonstrating high level of knowledge and skills to promote and enhance delivery of share-care services specific to clinical, environmental and geographical needs.
