We have a casual opportunity for a Registered Nurse to join the Mental Health team at the Community Care Units in delivering evidence-based interventions to consumers!
We welcome Nurses with or without mental health specific experience but demonstrate a willingness to learn and develop their skills professionally. This is an excellent opportunity for Nurses new to mental health whereby you engage with a training for 12 months training program while supported by your line manager and develop your knowledge around various aspects of mental health.

About us:
At our Community Care Units, we provide medium to long term mental health care and rehabilitation in a supervised residential setting for people aged between 18-64 who are in recovery but require support to transition to independent living. The team at the unit support residents and help them develop skills required to live in the community, such as:
- Staying well – both physical and mental health including medication management
- Life skills such as cooking, cleaning and shopping
- Community access (e.g. using public transport)
- Community linking (e.g. to sports or social organisations)
- Return to work or study
- Engaging with Non-Government Organisations
About the role:
- Provide shift coordination in the absence of the Clinical Nurse for the operation of the Community Care Unit so that a high level of care is delivered to consumers of the service.
- Assess, plan, implement and evaluate comprehensive nursing care for consumers of the unit in accordance with professional standards consistent with the philosophy and policies of Queensland Health, Rockhampton District Mental Health Services and the National Standards for Mental Health Services.
- Participate in the development, utilisation and review of clinical pathways and care management protocols within the inter- disciplinary framework.
- Participate in the planning, implementation and evaluation of Unit induction, transition and staff development programs and activities.
- Participate in self-appraisal, performance, appraisal and development processes in consultation with the Team Manager.
About you:
- Current nursing registration through the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
- Demonstrated a competent level of knowledge and skill to undertake routine clinical practice with a basic understanding of recovery focussed Mental Health care.
- Demonstrated an ability to participate in a multidisciplinary team utilising comprehensive communication skills to establish effective partnerships and provide consultation to the team as well as other government and non–government services providers.
- Ability to deliver routine adult mental health clinical services utilising time management and prioritisation skills.
What we offer:
- An hourly rate between $51.33 - $65.84 p.h. (including 23% casual loading)
