The Visiting Medical Officer (Anaesthesia) works with the surgical multidisciplinary team in providing excellent patient care within Calvary Mater Newcastle to maximise health outcomes for the community.

DUTIES:
- Provide clinical anaesthesia for surgical patients requiring advanced pain management and other hospital patients who require the assistance of a consultant anaesthetist.
- Contribute to the professional development of senior and junior medical staff.
- Supervise and teach rotational provisional fellows, registrars and JMOs in the department.
- Work in collaboration with the Director of Anaesthesia to improve service delivery and patient management.

REQUIREMENTS:
- A Primary Medical Degree registrable by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
- Fellowship of the Australia & New Zealand College of Anaesthetists.
- Demonstrated capacity in efficient and effective patient management.
- Commitment to undergraduate and post graduate teaching in medicine, nursing and allied health.
- Demonstrated ability to work within a multidisciplinary team.
- Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement.
- Adaptability in use of medical IT applications e.g. electronic medical records & prescribing.
- Demonstrated commitment to own personal and professional development.
