Make a Difference with SA Health - Weekend Occupational Therapist Role

As a member of the Division of Rehabilitation, Aged Care and Palliative Care, the Occupational Therapist plays a vital role in providing comprehensive assessment and intervention services to patients in the OPAL/RCOT (Older Persons Assessment Liaison and Residential Care Outreach Team) Unit at Flinders Medical Centre. Working within an interdisciplinary team, the incumbent will utilise their expertise to identify pathways that assist patients in reaching their full potential. Guided by the Division's purpose of optimizing quality of life, this role exemplifies the values of respect, communication, support, and compassion in every encounter with patients, families, and colleagues. This role involves working a full day Saturday.

About the role:

Reporting to the Director of Occupational Therapy, some of your duties as the Weekend Occupational Therapist may involve:

  • Providing specialist clinical Occupational Therapy services to maximise occupational outcomes of patients in OPAL/RCOT who receive treatment from RAP.
  • Assessing patient's occupational abilities, problems and needs using a variety of formal and informal assessments.
  • Planning and implementing evidence based intervention programs with outcome measures to evaluate efficacy of therapy programs and introduce new practices in response to evaluations.
  • Providing education / advice to patients, families and service providers about ongoing management
  • Documenting assessment findings and interventions in accordance with service standards.

About you:

  • Appropriate Degree or equivalent qualification which entitles registration as an Occupational Therapist with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia.
  • Broad experience and clinical expertise in the provision of clinical Occupational Therapy services (assessment and treatment) to clients with a range of disorders and disabilities, particularly older patients with cognitive impairment.
  • High level interpersonal and communications skills
  • Ability to work autonomously with high level organisational and prioritisation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to assume responsibility for the provision of clinical Occupational Therapy services to a designated area as a member of an interdisciplinary team.
