Exciting opportunity to contribute to the Statewide Prison Health Transition Support Program

• Provide specialised project management skills to undertake the design and development of a Prison Health Transition Support Program for use across Queensland Health.

• Temporary Full-time opportunity for 12 weeks

About the role

The Prison Health Transition Support Program Statewide Project has been funded by Clinical Excellence Queensland to undertake development of State-wide Prison Health Transition Support Program for registered nurses.

The project includes:

•    Development of a contemporary Prison Health Transition Support Program (TSP).

•    Undertaking state-wide consultation with key stakeholders to ensure state-wide access to effective education to support registered nurses to transition to specialty contexts of practice.

•    Achieving endorsement of the Prison Health TSP by the Nursing and Midwifery Director Education (NMDE) Forum.

•    Arranging for upload of Prison Health TSP to the NMDE SharePoint site. 

About you

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:

  • Demonstrated high level of clinical practice and expertise in adult education within the current legislative and policy context.
  • Experience in undertaking learning needs analysis, developing contemporary and innovative educational materials and utilising adult educational frameworks to engage and foster a learning culture within the clinical environment.
  • Proven ability to work autonomously and as an effective team member.
  • Demonstrated ability to use advanced communication skills to consult, negotiate, educate and work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.  
  • Demonstrated advanced level of interpersonal and written communication skills to enable accurate, complete, and timely reporting of educational interventions designed to ensure healthcare teams are capable of supporting and delivering patient-centred care
  • Demonstrated experience in working within clinical leadership roles, including nursing/ midwifery education.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking and reasoning, advanced problem skills and expert clinical judgement.

Mandatory Requirements:

  • Whilst not mandatory, previous experience in education and operational leadership roles; and/or project management roles will be well regarded.
  • A post-graduate qualification or currently enrolled in a post graduate program in a relevant area of study is highly desirable.
  • Whilst not mandatory, previous experience working in correctional health and/or nursing education setting will be well regarded.
  • Vaccinated against, and remain vaccinated against, certain vaccine preventable diseases (VPD) as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO. 01/16
