Fixed term temporary full time opportunity to provide mental health screening and diversion for people appearing before the magistrates’ court or detained in the local watch-house.

About the role

Fixed term temporary full time opportunity to provide mental health screening and diversion for people appearing before the magistrates' court or detained in the local watch-house. The purpose of this service is the early identification of people with a mental illness to ensure that appropriate mental health treatment, advice or referral is made.   

About you

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:

  • Develop an understanding of the new mental health act and perform functions as required under changes to the legislation in accordance with CLS procedures as they develop. This may require written reports to various members of the court systems.
  • Work cooperatively and effectively within a multidisciplinary team; with police and justice personnel and with patients/clients.
  • Liaise with patients and their families, other health professionals, supervisors, students and researchers, as required.
  • Actively participating in research initiatives and encourage and support others to do so.
