Sydney Local Health District (SLHD) is seeking Visiting Medical Officers in Emergency Medicineto join our team at Canterbury Hospital!
We are looking for Visiting Medical Officers in Emergency Medicine. The primary purpose of the role is to provide high quality diagnostic and consultative specialty services in Emergency Medicine and to participate in teaching, research, quality improvement and administrative activities within the Emergency Department and Hospital as required.
The Emergency Medicine Visiting Medical Officer will provide clinical care to adult and paediatric patients who present to The Canterbury Hospital Emergency Department. In addition to carrying a clinical patient load, the Visiting Medical Officer will be expected to supervise junior medical staff, review clinical cases seen by juniors or trainees, and provide senior decision making to expedite clinical care and patient flow. The Visiting Medical Officer must be capable of working collaboratively with nursing managers in managing the Emergency Department floor to optimise patient flow and maintain a safe working environment. They must be able to communicate with admitting teams, medical retrieval teams and tertiary referral centres for escalation of patient care when appropriate.
The Visiting Medical Officer will ensure a high standard of professional performance and encouragement of an academic environment which supports education, research and professional development.
The successful applicant will be registered or eligible for specialist registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), and Fellowship with the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine (FACEM).
