The Nursing and Midwifery Education and Research Service (NMERS) aims to foster a culture of learning that nurtures the growth of knowledge, skills, and attitude from novice to advanced practice. About the role

The Nurse Educator is a Registered Nurse with advanced skills, knowledge and expertise in adult education frameworks, clinical development, coordination, and evaluation of nursing education programs.  The Nurse Educator demonstrates expertise and leadership skills within the domain of education to support a culture of development and enquiry, which promotes clinical, professional, and organisational learning within a Supported Practice Framework.  

The role of the Nurse Educator – Child and Family Health is accountable at an advanced practice level for the design, implementation, assessment, and evaluation of nursing education programs, managing educational resources and providing nursing expertise related to educational issues in meeting the strategic priorities of West Moreton Health (WMH).  The Nurse Educator – Child and Family Health promotes a commitment to lifelong learning demonstrated through knowledge of contemporary clinical practice and theory; extensive knowledge and the ability to apply relevant legislation, guidelines, and standards to nursing/ midwifery practice.

About you

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:

  • Demonstrated high level of clinical practice and expertise in adult education within the current legislative and policy context.
  • Experience in undertaking learning needs analysis, developing contemporary and innovative educational materials and utilising adult educational frameworks to engage and foster a learning culture within the clinical environment.
  • Proven ability to work autonomously and as an effective team member.
  • Demonstrated ability to use advanced communication skills to consult, negotiate, educate and work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated advanced level of interpersonal and written communication skills to enable accurate, complete, and timely reporting of educational interventions designed to ensure healthcare teams are capable of supporting and delivering patient-centred care.
  • Demonstrated experience in working within clinical leadership roles, including education, and Child and Family Health nursing/ midwifery specialities.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking and reasoning, advanced problem skills and expert clinical judgement.
